   TEFL refers to Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and TESOL refers to Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Generally speaking, TEFL is usually used in the United Kingdom; and TESOL is more commonly used in the United States, Canada and Australia.   TEFL usually refers to teaching non-native English students to learn English in non-English speaking countries; and TESOL usually refers to teaching non-native English students who have immigrated to English-speaking countries to learn English. The learning content of TESOL certificate and TEFL certificate is basically the same, and its authority is widely recognized worldwide. More importantly, among the global English teaching positions, positions that require TEFL qualifications can also accept TESOL. Domestic situation   At present, TESOL, TEFL and ESL certificates have basically been mixed in China, and the three are not strictly distinguished, and they are all regarded as foreign teacher qualification certificates. At present, domestic colleges and universities and slightly more professional English training centers will require one of the three certificates to recruit foreign teachers. At the same time, these certificates are also heavyweights for foreign teachers to apply for foreign expert certificates.
